Barnsley Leaders VS York Young Eagles

Barnsley Leaders U16s recorded their fourth successive NBL win finishing thirteen points ahead of a spirited York Young Eagles team (NBL North Conference, Sunday 11 November, Netherwood Academy).
The Young Eagles started brightly and hit Barnsley with an 8-6 run in the first four minutes. Following a time out  Barnsley hit back with a 14-2 run to lead 22-8 at the end of the first period. The teams traded baskets in the second period with a 13-13 split and the Young Eagles kept up the pressure by winning a 16-13 split in the third period. Barnsleys greater fire power saw them through in the final period with forward Luke Monks ( 20), and guards Charles Batte (15), George Hartshorne (13) and Elliot Langfield (13) being the games top four point scorers, with the final score at 65-52

Leaders return to NBL action next Sunday when the visitors to Netherwood Academy are Chesterfield Flight. ( Tip off 11.00am). The Leaders are hoping that influential guard Prince Igiraneza , who missed Sundays game with a knee strain will be able to return to their line- up.
