Barnsley Leaders VS York Eagles (U13)

Leaders young U13 team travelled to York College and in a poorly officiated opening game, the hosts York Eagles, bludgeoned their way to an 18-2, lead with a full court pressure defence in the first period. Lewis Tinker led the scoring with ten points as the Leaders recovered to score twenty one to the Eagles twenty in the remainder of the game. The Leaders then faced York Vikings, who took a 14-2 lead in the first period, and continued to set the pace with splits of 10-5, 10-6, and 8-7. The Leaders, with all but three of their twelve players underage, remained competitive to the end with their best splits in the final periods. Captain, forward Declan Cooper, and Y5 guard Joseph Taylor, set the standards in the Leaders spirited play.
